Dr. Rachel M. Niknam is a member of Wills Eye Institute Glaucoma Service and is a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Stern College for Women, Yeshiva University. Dr. Niknam obtained her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She interned at Albert Einstein Medical Center and completed her residency in ophthalmology at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Niknam then went on to complete a glaucoma fellowship at University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute. Dr. Niknam is currently in private practice with Kay and Tabas Ophthalmology Associates. Dr. Niknam has published several papers in peer reviewed literature such as the British Journal of Ophthalmology, International Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry. She has frequently lectured at Drexel College of Medicine, Scheie Eye Institute, various professional societies and public service organizations. Her areas of interest include medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataract.
