Chat Room Participant Wins Award
At the recent American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in Las
Vegas, the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) honored physicians,
healthcare workers and patients who contributed the best ideas
for the Patient Care Improvement Project. The purpose
of this project, which was sponsored by the AGS, is to identify
and overcome barriers to effective glaucoma treatment. The
Glaucoma Service Foundation is pleased to announce that one of
our chat room participants, Ms. Lorraine Miller, won for her submission.
Ms. Miller commented on winning this award, “I don’t
think the award was as much a contributing factor to participate
in this contest, as was the compassion and caring of these medical
professionals. As a patient visiting a specialist’s
office, feelings often get lost in the shuffle of a busy day.”
She continued, “Although I went to the meeting to
meet Dr. Rick Wilson, I had no idea just how respected and revered
he is by his colleagues and peers. I am so grateful that
he, and other Wills Eye glaucoma physicians, take time out of
their busy schedules on Wednesday evenings to provide information
about glaucoma to patients around the world.”
On behalf of the Glaucoma Service Foundation, CONGRATULATIONS
Lorraine!
